Price Wires Field Wingless at Deming Speedway
8/3/18
Everson, WA – A rapid night at Deming Speedway saw Robbie Price go wire to wire for the win, wingless style in the 600 division on Bob Hillier Trucking / Coors Light night. Joining Price in victory lane were Jared Gundersen, Dakota Drake and Axel Oudman.
Price was as dominant as we’ve seen any driver in the Speedmart Hoosier 600 open division, as in a race that went wire to wire with no interuptions, the Cobble HIll. BC driver opened up a near half track advantage on Jared Peterson before taking the checkered flag for his second victory in three weeks. Peterson finished second and Kyle Mitchell brought his wingless mount from last to finish third. Peterson and Price were the heat race winners.
Jared Gundersen put on a clinic on how to “go where they aren’t” in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 class. Steven Hendrickson had inherited the lead after race leader Tanner Holm and second place Seth Hespe were involved with an incident with slower traffic on lap 19. On the ensuing restart, Gundersen challenged high before Hendrickson moved from the bottom back to the top. Gundersen made the counter move, diving back to the low side to pull even with Steven on lap 23, then surged into the lead as Hendrickson dove back low in turn one and Jared found all kinds of power on the outside of the speedway. Gundersen slammed the door in the final corners for his third win of the year, followed by Steven in second and Clennon Holloway in third. Holloway and Holm won the heats.
In the Mytrafficman.NET 600 restricted division, Dakota Drake parlayed a pole position start into a wire to wire win. Her fourth feature win of the year was by no means easy, as she was pressured multiple times by eventual runner up Malachi Gemmer en route to the victory. Gemmer was followed by Blaine Granberg to round out the top three. Heat wins went to Jeremy Holz, Drake and Macie Logsdon.
Axel Oudman climbed to the top of the mountain in the Kasey Kahne Junior Sprint division. After running second many times, Oudman grabbed his first Deming Speedway win, coming from the outside pole to lead all 20 laps ahead of Levi Kuntz and Jesson Jacobson. Heat winners were Levi Hillier and Peyton Drake.
