Everson,WA – Having the lead in the late stages of the main events was a bad omen on Friday night at Deming Speedway. All four main events on Coors Light, Service Pro and Wilson’s Furniture night saw the lead change hands beyond the halfway point of the feature.
The Speedmart 600 Open main event saw heartbreak for Levi Hillier and jubilation for Colin Mackey. Hillier led the first 24 ¾ laps of the 25 lap main, but two slower cars collected Levi in a spin coming off the inside of turn four, letting Mackey zip around the outside to the checkered flag, which flew just moments before the yellow lights turned on around the track. Macie Logsdon and David Greene rounded out the top three. Mackey and Carson Guffie won the heat races.
Levi Klatt and Brock Lemley were battling hard in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 main event when disaster struck on lap 19. Lemley made a bid for the lead on the inside of turn one and made contact with Levi, stopping both cars in the process and turning the lead over to Jacob Buckenmeyer. Jacob would go the rest of the way for his first win of the year, followed by Derek Holmwood and Jared Gundersen. Holwood won the first heat race while Clennon Holloway and Jason Bloodgood won the other two heats.
The Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted main event came down to the final lap. Clayton Jalakas led the first 24 laps but found the slick spot coming into turn three, letting Cooper Anderson loop to his outside and make the pass at the line by .009 seconds, denying Clayton his first feature win in the process. Following Anderson and Jalakas was McKenna Morgan. Colton Knapp, Chase Jensen, Avery Touchette and Austin Held were heat race winners.
Hudson Johnson also caught the bad luck that touched other race leaders, as the youngster led the first 16 laps of the Capstone Plastering JR Sprints main event before an undisclosed mechanical malfunction caused him to pull off track. Kaden Riese was ready to take advantage, leading the final few laps for his first career win over Owen Hill and James Hayashi. Johnson was a heat race winner, along with Kole Campbell and Kellen Vonthenen.
