Everson, WA – A popular win punctuated a great night of racing at Deming Speedway sponsored by Bailey’s Tire Service and Capstone Plastering. Macie Logsdon won her first career main event in Speedmart 600 Open, while Alex Lewis returned to victory lane for the first time in 3 years in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 class. Cooper Anderson came out on top late in the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted division and James Hayashi got his first career win in the Capstone Plastering JR Sprints.
Logsdon’s popular win took a ton of work, as former track champion Dylan Resch was there to pressure her nearly every step of the way. Resch led the first six laps before Logsdon built enough momentum around the high groove to secure the top spot on lap seven. Despite multiple cautions slowing the race down, Resch and Logsdon put on a classic high – low battle the rest of the way, with Macie holding the top spot till the very end for her first win in the class. Dylan was second with Levi Hillier taking third. Heat wins went to Resch and Colin Mackey.
Alex Lewis hadn’t been to victory lane at Deming Speedway since 2020, but on Friday night, he rectified that problem by leading the final 23 laps of the main event. Lewis drove around the outside of Tyson Cross on lap three and then survived a late race restart to score the victory ahead of Brock Lemley and Levi Klatt. Klatt, Lewis and Cross won the heat races.
The end of the 600 Restricted main event got a little more chaotic than originally anticipated. It appeared that David Greene, who had led since lap 5, had the race well in hand but unexpected contact with a lapped car sent Greene spinning and handed the lead over to Cooper Anderson. Anderson, who just a few laps previous had wrestled second palace from Jayce Medcalf, would keep a hard charging McKenna Morgan behind him over the final few laps to score the win, with Morgan settling for second and Dustin Ramsey taking third after transferring in from the B Main. Medcalf was a heat race winner, as were Fairah Lee, Elijah Elder and Avery Touchette.
James Hayashi went wire to wire for his first win in the JR Sprints. He led with very little challenge until late when a slower car let Hudson Johnson close up to challenge him for the lead, but could not make the pass. Hayashi, Johnson and Madi Hoppe made up the podium, while heat race wins went to Kole Campbell, Hoppe and Drake Wiersma.
