On a night where Mother Nature finally behaved and didn’t threaten to end the evening early, Deming Speedway hosted a great night of racing and raised funds for the Max Higbee Center at the same time. Race winners on the night included Colin Mackey, Derek Holmwood, Levi Hillier and McKenna Morgan. Total funds raised were still being tallied as of this writing, but with just the helmet pass funds and money kicked in by the track alone, the track raised over $2,700 for donation, with money from the silent auction and raffle still to be counted.
The Speedmart 600 Open main event saw Colin Mackey check out from the pack early and often in winning his first feature of the year. Despite multiple stops and restarts, Mackey would grab the win, holding off Jesse Schlotfeldt and Levi Kuntz for the victory. Heat race wins went to Mackey, Kuntz and Macie Logsdon.
In the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 division, Derek Holmwood came out on top of an early battle with Dakota Drake to grab his second win of the year. Drake would lead the first three laps of the main event on the low side of the speedway before Holmwood snuck by on the high side on lap four. A caution would come out, giving Holmwood clean air and a single file restart to work with, and from there he checked out, taking the victory over Drake and third place running Steven Hendrickson. Heat winners were Terry Lewis and Tyson Lemley.
Levi Hillier completed the Immaculate Night at Deming Speedwayin the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted class. After setting quick time, Hillier drove from fourth to the lead on the first lap of the heat race and would lead every lap of it, and then thanks to a zero invert, took the lead from the pole and led every lap of it as well to win the feature and complete the perfect night of racing (leading every lap of every race). Corbin Ramsey closed for a bit as he and Hillier raced through slower traffic but ended up second with Ryan Bright coming in third. The other heat race winners were Karma Fagerlie and Avery Askvig.
McKenna Morgan led all 20 laps of the Clean Crawls Junior Sprints main event. She was harried all race long by Cooper Anderson, but Morgan would consistently hit her marks and make the right moves around slower traffic to grab her first victory of the season. Anderson would settle for second with Chase Whitney making a late race pass to take third. Sawyer Baxter and James Hayashi were the heat race winners.
