Everson, WA – On the final night before Clay Cup 2023 kicks off, four drivers built some serious momentum heading into the richest paying weekend of the year. Cody Key, Derek Holmwood, McKenna Morgan and Madi Hoppe all won features at Deming Speedway on Friday evening. 

Cody Key went wire to wire for the win in the Speedmart 600 Open division. The California driver kept Jared Peterson at bay for the victory, with Peterson finishing a close second and Ryley Mayer coming home third. Heat wins went to Peterson, Key, Mayer and Dakota Drake. 

In the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 class, Derek Holmwood won his second main event in a row. Derek drove around Terry Lewis on lap 3 and went the rest of the distance in the top spot for the win. Brock Lemley raced his way to second while Lewis took third. Alex Lewis, Nate Vaughn and Tyson Cross were the heat race winners. 

McKenna Morgan won her first career main event in the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted division. Morgan led all twenty five laps, holding off a strong challenge from runner up Cooper Anderson nearly the whole length of the race. Zoey Tupper finished third. The four heat races were won by Morgan, Anderson, Joseph Johnson and Grace Matier. 

Madi Hoppe continued her strong run heading into Clay Cup with another win in the Capstone Plastering JR Sprints. Hoppe made a bold move in slower traffic with two laps to go to take the lead from Hudson Johnson as she rolled to victory. Johnson was second with James Hayashi coming in third. Kole Campbell and Kellen Vonthenen won the heat races.
