Everson, WA – A long night of racing saw 134 cars contest the first night of the 2021 IBEW / NECA Clay Cup Nationals at Deming Speedway with Mitchell Moles, Chance Crum, Axel Oudman and Hayden Stepps winning the first preliminary night features.

Moles was dominant from the drop of the green flag in the open 600 main, leading a bulk of the main with a gap of over three seconds between him and the field. A late caution set up Caden Sarale with a chance to trade moves with Moles, but Moles turned away two slidejob attempts to hold the top spot and take the win. Sarale would take second with defending champion Chance Crum running third. 60 car signed into compete in the class, broken up into four qualifying groups, eight heat races, and D C and B mains.

Chance Crum is also the defending champion of the 1200 class, and showed he’ll be a strong force come Saturday night by winning the first prelim feature. Crum passed Dakota Drake on lap 15 for the top spot and went unchallenged the rest of the way, with Drake taking second and Dustin O’Brien grabbing third.

In 600 Restricted action, Axle Oudman won his second feature of the season, leading all 25 laps of the main event from the pole position. He was challenged hard early by Colton Key before Key spun out, and hard over the final two laps by eventual runner up Austin Wood. Following Wood to the line was Corbin Ramsey. 34 cars signed in, running three qualifying sessions, six heats and a B feature.

Hayden Stepps won his first Deming Speedway main event in the Junior Sprint division. Stepps led every lap with Brooklyn Constance taking second and Briggs Davis taking third.
