Everson, WA – On a sunny Sunday afternoon, Deming Speedway crowned four champions on the final race day of 2020. Three season champions finished off their seasons with feature wins, as Evan Margeson, Levi Hillier and Kane Van Sickle all clinched their title with wins, while Alex Lewis played spoiler in the Shots 2 Go Espresso division by taking his second feature win of the year. 

The first main of the night was the 25 lap Clean Crawls JR Sprint feature, which Kane Van Sickle led wire to wire for his eighth feature win of the season. Van Sickle had clinched the title before the night began. Dustin Ramsey pressured Kane at times but would settle for second, with Jayce Medcalf finishing his year off with a third place. 

The only point battle that was significantly close was in the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted division, where Levi Hillier and Levi Kuntz were separated by 4 markers heading into the main. Hillier would sew up the championship by leading all 30 laps of the main event, holding off a strong performance by Peyton Drake who ended up second. Keira Zylstra raced hard to score third in the feature. 

In the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200 main event, Derek Holmwood got the jump early and led the early portion of the main event before contact with a lapped car who had spun out brought Holmwood to a stop and sent him to the back of the field. Alex Lewis took the lead on the ensuing restart and began his march through the back of the field. Dakota Drake would close and challenge for the lead, but Lewis made the right counter moves and went the rest of the way for his second win of the season, with Drake running second and season champion Chance Crum taking the third spot on the podium. 

Evan Margeson took the final checkered flag of 2020 at Deming Speedway first in the Speedmart 600 open class, but it wasn’t easy for the division champ. Colin Mackey had been railing the high side of the track hard and caught Evan out front around lap 11. A slidejob by Mackey was countered by Margeson using a crossover to hold the top spot out of turn four on lap 12. Margeson slammed the door on Mackey going into turn three on lap 13, but Mackey couldn’t get his car slowed up in time and tagged the back of Evan, spinning himself out and bringing out a yellow flag. From there, it was all Margeson to the finish, with Blaine Granberg and Parker Hadlock battling for second over the final ten laps with Granberg coming out on top.
