Everson, WA – Championship weekend at Deming Speedway kicked off with a fast night of racing that saw Ryley Mayer in victory lane for the third time in the last four races in the Speedmart 600 Open division. Joining Mayer as a winner on the night were Clennon Holloway in the Shots 2 Go Espresso 1200s, Levi Hillier in the Mytrafficman.NET 600 Restricted Class and Kane Van Sickle in the Clean Crawls JR Sprints.
The 600 feature finished the night with a 25 lap main that went green to checkered with no stoppages. Blaine Granberg held the top spot for the first 11 laps until Mayer found a line underneath him in turn three and powered into the top spot to close out lap 12. Granberg kept Mayer close for a couple more laps but Mayer eventually pulled away for his third win in the past four races, with a second place finish in his lone night away from victory lane. It was Granberg’s best finish in the class as he ran runner up, with Parker Hadlock taking third.
Clennon Holloway has been strong over the back half of the 2020 season, collecting another win in the 1200s. Holloway led all 25 laps from the pole to take the victory, keeping Jason Bloodgood at bay a number of times before stretching lead late in the race. Bloodgood held on to second, with Jared Gundersen applying steady pressure before settling for third.
The best point battle in the four divisions will come down to Saturday night, as Levi Hillier retook the point lead from Levi Kuntz on the strength of his second feature win on Friday night. Hillier led all 25 laps of the restricted division main, with Jesson Jacobson closing late to make it interesting. Jacobson was unable to make it by Levi and had to settle for second place, with Axel Oudman coming in third.
Kane Van Sickle scored win number seven on the season on his way to sealing up the points title in the Clean Crawls JR Sprints. Avery ASkvig had held the lead since lap four when she inherited from Chase Whitney. Avery held a decent advantage over Van Sickle that Kane steadily chopped into before rolling up to the back of Avery around lap fifteen. On lap seventeen, Kane made his move, finding room inside Avery in turn two and making what was the race winning pass. Askvig held to a strong second with Dustin Ramsey moving forward to run third.
